The booklets are short historical accounts of  Kimberley, Watnall, Awsworth and Newthorpe, Nottinghamshire.

These settlements are now part of the Nottingham conurbation and might appear on a fairly superficial level to be rather ordinary. But they are all listed in the Domesday Book of 1087 and all have fascinating and complex histories stretching back at least to Saxon times. They were all, at one time or another, owned by some of the greatest aristocratic families in England and all have complex agricultural and industrial legacies.

The four booklets, by J.M.Lee, bring together some recent research and attempt to summarise developments from Roman, right up to modern times.

Four short booklets are currently available for people interested in the history of north west Nottingham
